Otto Schulz, rare Swedish Modern birch, bambu & rattan longe chair, ca 1940Very rare loung chair from ca 1940 in birch (or maybe elm) with new off white fabric to both cushions. The pegs stems at the backrest are made of bambu and the seat cushion is held up with a rattan bottom. It's designed by Swedish German designer Otto Schulz for his own firm BOET that was producing furniture from the mid 1930s up until 1950 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He was also an often hired interior decorator and was always providing watercolour

Rattan is overall in good condition with a few small flaws and it has also sunken down a little bit because of use

They are very much in the style of both Josef Hoffmann (who worked for both Thonet and Kohn) and Marcel Kammerer (who worked for Thonet)

This is chair was though most likely produced in Sweden and a few other quite similar designs appears in Swedish museums

Materials: Iron

A few minor spots (about 1-2 millimeter each) to the glaze from the manufacturing process that are hardly visibel

The handles have a very Gustavian feel

This exact model was displayed at the International World Exhibition in Paris in 1937 and were among the few models of Swedish furniture to included in the Swedish pavilion of the show

It contains a smoke coloured glass bulb on a brass base
